Logan Gary is currently attending Loyola University New Orleans where he is earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. He plans to purse LSU’s School of Veterinary Medicine after graduation.

Throughout my time at Loyola, I’ve had the opportunity to be a part of the swim team. I was challenged not only academically through the classes and amazing professors but physically and mentally, as well, through juggling being an athlete and a student. I’ve had an interest in animals and wildlife throughout my entire life into the present, but I’ve also gained an interest in parasitology and epidemiology. When I started getting more involved in this new interest, I had the opportunity to join the Gulf South Vector Animal Welfare Committee. It was here that I was able to meet incredible people and educators that truly impact the world and lives of others in amazing ways. It was also through the GSV that I was able to dip my hands into interdisciplinary work. I’ve learned the importance of working with other professions to solve problems that require various ways of thinking and the positive impact that it can have on all the fields of work. Collaborating with others is a significant part of every work force and it is highly encouraged to reach out to others when in need of help. With all of this combined and the support of those around me, I cannot wait to thrive in vet school so that one day I can contribute positively to those around me and help those who cannot help themselves.
