This interactive workshop hosted by the City of New Orleans Mosquito, Termite and Rodent Control Board and the Gulf South VECTOR is designed for wildlife‑rescue professionals, rehabilitators, and field responders committed to safe, ethical, and effective wildlife care.
The session focuses on best practices for assessing wildlife activity and performing humane capture and containment, while also addressing critical health‑and‑safety topics for rescuers, including zoonotic diseases associated with small mammals, identification and management of ectoparasites such as fleas, ticks, and mites, and proper selection and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Through hands‑on practice and real‑world scenarios, participants gain science‑based skills to identify risks early, apply targeted interventions, and support healthier wildlife populations and communities.
Registration is required and lunch will be provided.
