Webinar: Using Tick Population Dynamics Models to Assess Control Strategies

April 22 | 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm CDT

Don’t miss the Tick IPM Working Group‘s upcoming free webinar presented by Dr. David Allen, Associate Professor of Biology at Middlebury College.

Tick control strategies have been shown to reduce tick density and, consequently, the risk of tick-borne diseases. However, it is often challenging to assess which strategy is most cost-effective or how its effectiveness varies across ecological or climate settings. Tick population dynamics models offer powerful tools for assessing questions like these, which would be difficult, costly, or infeasible to test empirically. This presentation will demonstrate such applications, while also addressing the inherent limitations of using theoretical models to answer real-world ecological questions.
