This interactive workshop, hosted by the Gulf South VECTOR, Louisiana State University Shreveport, Louisiana State University Health Shreveport, and Texas A&M University, is for students, faculty, environmental health professionals, pest control professionals, public health workers, and other professionals.
The workshop will provide:
- An introduction to One Health, important zoonotic and arboviral diseases, and mosquito control basics.
- An interactive session about the identification and management of ectoparasites such as fleas, ticks, and mites.
- An expert panel discussion on career pathways in vector-borne disease management and prevention and associated fields.
- Real-world scenario discussions exploring integrated pest management in a community public health context to identify risks, apply targeted interventions, and support healthier communities.
This program has been submitted to the Louisiana Department of Health for continuing education credits and the Texas Department of Agriculture for 3 CEUs.
