DESCRIPTION:Vector-Borne Outbreaks: Emergency Prep Tabletop prepares communities to respond to emerging and ongoing mosquito-borne disease threats through hands-on\, scenario-based emergency planning. Focusing on dengue fever\, eastern equine encephalitis\, chikungunya\, and West Nile virus\, this one-day tabletop exercise challenges participants to assess outbreak readiness at the local and regional level—because preparedness requires more than a reaction. Participants will explore how communities detect\, investigate\, and respond to arboviral disease outbreaks\, with a specific focus on mosquito management in high-risk areas across North Texas. While West Nile virus has circulated in Texas for years\, shifting environmental conditions and invasive diseases demand a more coordinated\, holistic response. How ready are you—and your community—for the next outbreak? The Vector-Borne Outbreaks: Emergency Prep Tabletop includes expert-led morning lectures followed by facilitated small-group tabletop exercises guided by AMCA and TMCA best practices. Afternoon sessions walk participants through outbreak Discovery\, Investigation\, and Response\, using realistic scenarios that emphasize collaboration among local\, regional\, and state stakeholders. This workshop is open to professionals and community partners interested in vector-borne diseases\, emergency preparedness\, One Health initiatives\, and environmental health across all practice settings. Registration is required. Lunch is provided.
